The column, the bridge, the foghorns, the sea lions...
And the coffee. Have I mentioned the coffee?!?! Since moving back to this vacation paradise on Valentine's Day 2015, I've been making my way through the coffee shops, pubs, and restaurants with my family, checking it out, finding new places, new faces, and soaking in the relaxed atmosphere Astoria has to offer.
Our first home was a rental on top of the world with an amazing view of the Columbia River:
And then the next chapter begins! *2016*
We now have our very own home in the Goondocks, a little place we've named the Buttercup Cottage. Built in 1918, it's solid... like, really solid. We can't even hear the rain when it's storming outside. We are up street from the hospital, down the street from the Maritime Museum, five blocks from the riverwalk, and just a few minutes' walk from downtown.
We still dream of a house in the country with room for gardens and chickens, but living in town right suits us perfectly, especially with the kids still in school. We're minutes from everything -- even my husband's commute is six miles... through the woods... and along a bay.... And all of that beats living in nightmare concrete jungle somewhere!
Don't forget the coffee... (Never, EVER forget the coffee!)
