My birthday was at the end of April ... but it's not like we go out for a relaxing dinner, and then I come home and pop the kids into bed then all is right with the world. No, because my oldest daughter's birthday in May 2, and so ever since she came into my life, I spend the entire week getting ready for her party, which includes a ginormous, awesome decorated cake. This time? A Rubik's Cube cake.
Holy crap was I out of practice! haha !!!XYZ is for OMG!!!!
I blogged AND painted my office, Emily's room, Mary's room, the dining room, AND the kitchen. Still have to do the kitchen cabinets, but that will take a shitload more time than just painting the walls.
I blogged AND continued to unpack the endless boxes full of all of our treasures.
I blogged AND hung art all over the walls in every room including the stairwell.
I blogged AND got up every day, made breakfast, made lunches for the girls, and remembered to pick them up every afternoon from school.
I blogged and got the shopping done. I blogged and remembered to clean the cat pans. I blogged and finished organizing the basement, my closet, and the art supplies.
That daily blogging, that daily thinking about what to blog about next, kept my brain connected to the writing world, because I sure as hell did not get any real writing done.
But now? It's May. The ginormous birthday party with 30 people coming over, the slumber party with seven squealing little girls who all refused to go to bed before midnight, and the majority of the painting IS DONE. The blog challenge IS DONE. And now? Time to move back into my own writing.... with the occasional blog post, of course. :-)
So, my reflections on the A-to-Z Blog Challenge are that like the NaNoWriMo challenge, it's a great motivator to get your fingers to connect to your keyboard every day, even though you are so freaking busy you're only getting about four hours of sleep. I also like the idea of the A-to-Z part. That's a nice little theme there and then inside that framework you can really do whatever you want.
And doing whatever I want is my favorite.
Technically I did not get my last three posts in. But in the rules somewhere it said you were booted after not getting FIVE posts up, so I think I still met the challenge, but even if I didn't, that's fine. I got a lot out of this challenge just as it all happened anyway. It was a fun ride!!
